About Me

I am a homeschool christian mom of a 9 year old daughter Lauren and have a 4 year old son Noah. I have a very supportive husband Mike who helps with homeschooling whenever he can. I have been diagnosed with a muscle disease and two autoimmune diseases and sometimes this can make a homeschool day very crazy. Because of this we don't have typical days and no two days are ever alike.

We are going to be starting My Fathers World Exploring Countries and Cultures in August and I can honestly say I am really excited. My 9 year old is not so thrilled to have to get back to school, but I guess that is to be expected.
My 4 year old Noah, though, is what has me puzzled. I would love to do the preschool curriculum with him, but all he seems to be interested in is cars, cars, and cars. Lol! Anyone have any suggestions? I am already dreading teaching Lauren and trying to do preschool with him at the same time. I know he will "grow" out of this phase and I really do not want to push him since he won't even fully develop his language skills for the next few years. Preschool needs to be fun and educational both. Now if I can only hide the fact that he will be learning during his play..........

Today has been a very good day in the Horton household so far. I received the My Fathers World preschool curriculum for my 2 year old Noah this morning and I can't say enough about this. The Lauri toys are wonderful and he has been entertained all day and it has kept his attention. Noah is actually quiet for the first time in a LONG while. This has made doing lessons with Lauren today very peaceful.
Also we picked up the rest of the deluxe items today for the MFW Adventures program. Just looking at everything has Lauren and myself excited. She already wants to do the magnets and the soda bottle feeder. Can't wait to start next week.

Amanda

First blog

We are a 2nd year homeschooling family and this year are going to be using the My Father's World Curriculum. My daughter Lauren is 7 and so we are going to be starting Adventures. I am very new to this curriculum but am excited to try all the new things with Lauren. I also have a 2 and a half year old Noah who is quite the handful. I am interested to see how everything will come together each day as we do this curriculum. For language and math I am using Abeka, but I am very seriously thinking about switching our language to Primary Language Lessons. Anyone have any thoughts on what has worked well for them? Since I am a homeschool mom, I am very busy each day but I will try and blog everyday about what is going on in our "school".
I can't wait to get started.
